Greg Fenton
Managing Editor, Critical Studies in Improvisation / Études critiques en improvisation
Greg Fenton is a Ph.D. researcher at McMaster University and the Managing Editor for Critical Studies in Improvisation/Études critiques en improvisation. His current work is focused on Ai Weiwei, neoliberalism, Asian North American literature and film, and questions of resistance. He completed his M.A. in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory (CSCT) at McMaster University. Prior to that, Greg worked as a high school teacher in both public and I.B. schools in mainland China, travelling extensively and struggling to learn Mandarin. He was an undergraduate English major at the University of Guelph and from 2007-2009 worked as one of the first undergraduate researchers with the ICASP project. He worked as Managing Editor for Critical Studies in Improvisation/Études critiques en improvisation during this time. He also worked as Colloquium Coordinator for the 2007 and 2008 Guelph Jazz Festival Colloquiums. Greg has been the recipient of numerous awards for his academic work including a Board of Graduate Studies Research Scholarship (2013) and the Murray and Gwen Ford Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2012).
