DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Saturday\, November 2 at 7:30 PM (ET) for the a screening of “My Sextortion Diary\,” directed by Patricia Franquesa (Spain)\, co-presented by the Guelph Film Festival and Ed Video.\n \nPatricia Franquesa ⋅ Spain ⋅ 64 min ⋅ Full Subtitles \n\nThis film screening will take place in person at ImprovLab\, MCKN 108 at the University of Guelph. The event is $15 or Pay What You Want. \nMore About the Event\nThe Guelph Film Festival is back from November 1st–9th\, showing films about our world and relationships\, with themes of resistance\, inclusion\, and care! \nIn collaboration with Ed Video\, the GFF will be screening Patricia Franquesa’s My Sextortion Diary at the ImprovLab. The film documents the experience of the filmmaker after her laptop is stolen and an anonymous hacker begins sending intimate images of her to her contacts\, demanding payment to stop. Realizing that thousands of others have had a similar experience\, and that the authorities will be of little help\, Franquesa takes it on herself to figure out a way to end this situation. Franquesa tells her story with humour and candour\, via texts\, emails\, and phone calls\, refusing to be shamed\, and “reclaiming the fragments of her body.” \nAfter the screening\, the audience will be able to take in Intimate Power\, “a media arts exploration of vulnerability online and living in a digital culture.” \nThe suggested admission for this event is $15\, but attendees are free to pay what they want—GFF would rather you come if interested than miss out because of the ticket cost\, so please do come on out! \nGrab your tickets here!
