Amy Hwang
Community Engagement Officer, Research and Partnerships
Amy Hwang serves IICSI by facilitating community partnerships and supporting grant development. Amy is a researcher, aging/dementia advocate, parent and family care partner, and changemaker. She holds a PhD in rehabilitation science, adjunct faculty appointments (Simon Fraser University – Gerontology; University of Toronto – Occupational Therapy), and manages a research program at Université de Montréal’s geriatric research institute (CRIUGM). She partners with community members and organizations in her research and advocacy work to co-create more age-/dementia-inclusive communities, programs/services, and social/technological innovations. She connects her lived, community, and research experiences to IICSI, recognizing the improvisational natures of aging/dementia care and how people/communities adapt to emerging technologies and innovations. She is on a mission to weave together her love of nature, writing, yoga/dance, music, travel, and intercultural/intergenerational connections.
