Research Projects
As a large-scale, interdisciplinary Institute, IICSI is home to a broad array of research projects, which take many forms and address a diverse range of subjects, all of them related to processes, impacts, and understandings of improvisation. These projects can be practice-based, theoretical, and/or carried out by partnerships between constellations of academic, service, artistic, and other partners; still others take different approaches, according to need, focus, and team. In these pages, we share information about some of the projects IICSI fosters, supports, and carries out. These will be updated periodically, as work evolves and emerges.
The International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation has eight formal research sites. These sites are central university partners where IICSI’s main research activities take place.
The IICSI Research Library contains a range of our creative and scholarly publications.
