Pauline Oliveros Day happens Saturday May 25, 2019 at Houston’s Discovery Green. Local and national artists will lead the public in listening and performing Pauline Oliveros’ compositions and sonic meditations.

In collaboration with Casa del Popolo/Suoni Festival, IICSI-McGill is hosting an Improvisation music/sound/creation workshop led by Mi’kmaq Hip Hop artist Quentin Condo for Indigenous Youth in the Montreal area.

“Still Listening in Kingston” comprises selected works from the 2017 Still Listening Exhibition held at McGill University in Montreal. 85 works were commissioned by Professors Eric Lewis and Ellen Waterman to honor noted Kingston, NY, composer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016). Unit Structures: The Art of Cecil Taylor are soliciting presentations of 20 minutes each and performances of original compositions / improvisations in discourse with Taylor’s 1966 essay “Sound Structure of Subculture Becoming Major Breath / Naked Fire Gesture”.

Rhythm Changes will feature academic papers, panels, roundtables, and poster sessions, as well as an exciting programme of performances by students and staff of the Jazz Institute of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
