The International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation and Coastal Jazz will host their ninth colloquium — Lines of Flight: Improvisation, Hope and Refuge, in Vancouver, British Columbia from June 23-25, 2017.

This year’s McGill-IICSI conference (in association with IPLAI) is focused on improvisation and listening, with a particular emphasis on Pauline Oliveros, whose passing this past November 2016, leaves us with a rich legacy of compositions, improvisations, theory, activism, community building, design, and a wide network of individuals and institutions that were influenced in many ways by her example, thoughts, sounds and actions.

The Improvisation and Mobility Conference and Festival at the University of Regina, Regina, Saskatchewan, explores themes of improvisation and mobility, and includes lectures, performances, hybrid performative talks, workshops, installations, the launch of interactive apps, and much more.
