Right to Left: Germaine Liu, Allison Cameron, Nicole Rampersaud

A circuit around Toronto is beginning to provide an unprecedented infrastructure for improvising musicians in southwestern Ontario. This autumn, the Admission of Guilt series presented Diatribes (from Switzerland); the Hamilton groups Eschaton and Barwin Lee; Snakechurch (Ben Grossman, Michael Mucci) from Guelph; Allison Cameron, Nicole Rampersaud and Germaine Liu from Toronto; as well as the local duo Ballantyne/Harms, at the Yeti in Kitchener. In Hamilton, zulapresents put on In the Sea (Josh Zubot, Tristan Honsinger, Nicolas Caloia) from Montreal, the Rempis Percussion Quartet from Chicago, Holger Schoorl and Tomasz Krakowiak, as well as local groups Eschaton (Connor Bennett and Aaron Hutchinson) and Barwin Lee (David Lee, Gary Barwin, Ryan Barwin). In Guelph, Silence Sounds presents a full schedule of classes and performances, including trumpeter Craig Pedersen from Ottawa, Toronto duo Ken Aldcroft and Mike Gennaro, Alaniaris and many others.
