Douglas R. Ewart’s Crepuscule – a multimedia, interactive installation and exhibition of music, film, sculptural assemblage, and performance art, exploring the role of improvisation in building and strengthening community opening reception is September 19 – 5-8pm at Wilfred Laurier University’s Robert Langen Art Gallery.

The Improvisation Summit of Portland is a multi-day performance festival featuring the best in creative, improvised and experimental music in collaboration with dancers, film, and other artists.

Inspired by an initiative developed by our friends and colleagues at the ArtsEverywhere Festival, and in partnership with the University of Guelph, the Colloquium invites students and community members to join our inaugural Emerging Scholars Program.This program offers up to ten individuals (from all levels of study) an opportunity to participate in the program and engage with participants.

At this year’s colloquium, Sounding Promise in the Present Tense: Improvising Through Troubled Times, presented in collaboration with the Vancouver International Jazz Festival and Coastal Jazz, presentations and performances will address questions around what it means to improvise in a challenging and uncertain present.
