Jerrard Smith is a set. costume, mask, and puppet designer for thaeatre and dance. His ongoing research involves the development of designs for theatrical presentations usually presented in non-traditional venues. To this end he has initiated a project with long-time collaborator R. Murray Schafer. Asterion, a text developed by Schafer, describes a series of interconnected performance spaces in the form of a complex labyrinth through which a spectator/participant moves alone, encountering a number of archetypical personae, live and sculpted, scenes, and installations that combine to create a transformative experience.
