Dr. William Echard’s musicological work is concerned with social semiotics, embodiment, and cultural processes of reception. He deals mostly with post-1950s popular musics of North America, and has published in several venues, including Popular Music, The Semiotic Review of Books, and the Canadian Folk Music Journal.
